THE wonders of Moreton Bay are brought to life in a new book launched by Queensland Museum.

"The eagerly-awaited Wild Guide to Moreton Bay and Adjacent Coasts includes stunning photographs and user-friendly information from the Queensland Museum,"; Queensland Museum CEO Dr Ian Galloway said.

"From giant, bright red squid to a fish that uses flashing light to attract its prey; and bizarre marine worms that resemble lumps of spaghetti, the guide uncovers a secret world of plants and animals living on Brisbane's doorstep.

The two-volume publication incorporates many new scientific discoveries with 300 additional species in the new guide showing the great diversity of life on our doorstep.

As well as detailed descriptions of each plant and animal species and images for easy identification, the publication also delves into historical and geological aspects of the region.

Moreton Bay is integral to the lives of thousands of people across south-east Queensland.

The book is available for purchase at the Queensland Museum for $49.95 or online, plus $7.50 postage, at Queensland Museum.
