PARIS Hilton helped Sunshine Coast woman Amy Clough land her dream job.

Amy has never met the American socialite. But from the other side of the world, the blonde heiress joined other celebrities in promoting Amy for a one-off role.

On Saturday, the 21-year-old Wurtulla student flies to Sydney for this year’s Aria Awards.

She won the public vote to be the awards night’s A-list “Party Patroller” and will rub shoulders with the crème de le crème of Australia’s music industry at the official after-party at the Opera House on Sunday night.

Amy, a public relations student at the University of the Sunshine Coast, took to social networking, in particular Twitter, to campaign for votes in the Nova radio station competition.

In 140 characters or less, she asked high rollers on the social network site to promote her cause.

She only had 160 people following her tweets but Amy managed to grab the attention of superstars in Australia and abroad.

Hilton, who has almost three million followers, sent Amy’s message out for more votes.

Hollywood actress Alyssa Milano, Australian swimming star Eamon Sullivan and NRL big man Lote Tuqiri all threw their tweeting power behind Amy.

Australia’s bad boy of cricket, Shane Warne, is notorious for his activities on the social network site but for once he tweeted for a good cause and sent Amy’s plea out to the 208,000 people following his Twitter account.

“I went global. Really quickly,” said Amy, who never imagined she would get such a response.

Pretty soon there were people writing on Amy’s Facebook profile page letting her know they had voted from all around the world, including Rio de Janeiro, Mexico, Italy and France.

At the end of last week she had the most votes from more than 2000 applicants across Australia before judges went behind closed doors and came out to reveal Amy was the winner.

For Amy, winning the gig is more than a great opportunity but also some relief from her battle with cancer.

She was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s Lymphoma when she was 16 and recently relapsed for the third time.

The strong and ambitious Amy does not let her treatments stand in her way and said she was hoping to make a good impression with Nova when she does a guest report from the Arias.

Amy will also be on the guest list for the after-party of the Arias, at which busty American actress Carmen Electra will make a special appearance.

“I don’t really know what to expect yet,” Amy said.

“This Friday I go to Brisbane to work at Nova for some media training.

“I fly down to Sydney on Saturday and to Melbourne on Monday.

“I would love that (to get a job with Nova) but just the experience is great. It would look so good on my resume.”
