Model train enthusiasts Ian and Alison Dingwall with their international themed model train and city called Cherry Blossom Park at the Queensland Model Railway Show on Saturday.
HUNDREDS of model trains were carefully displayed across Ipswich’s iconic Workshops Rail Museum for a unique glimpse into the miniature world.
Collectors from one of the world’s most loved hobbies joined their Ipswich counterparts to showcase their work at the Queensland Model Railway Show at the weekend.
The event saw more than 25 model railway clubs and modelling enthusiasts present their layouts of real and fictitious railways from Australia and around the world.
Visitors also had the opportunity to buy supplies from trade stands as well as see modelling demonstrations and seek advice from expert modellers.
Workshops Rail Museum director Andrew Moritz said the hobby brought together people from all walks of life, across the world.
“Building a model railway has become a treasured pastime for hundreds of thousands of people around the world, from children to adults, retirees, professionals, men or women,” Mr Moritz said.
“We are delighted to be able to provide a forum for modellers to share their passion, whether they are experts or beginners.”
Children who visited the rail museum at the weekend also had the opportunity to meet their favourite construction worker, Bob the Builder, who performed throughout the two days of the show.
