Jason and Rebecca King, of Pine Mountain, with their two-year-old triplets from left, Sophie, Matthew, and Ryan.
FOR dad Jason King, it is the little moments he treasures such as teaching his triplets to play cricket or seeing his kids when he walks through the door at the end of the work day.
With his children Ryan, Matthew and Sophie now active two-year-olds he is anticipating lots of love on Father’s Day tomorrow.
“It gets better as they get older,” Mr King said.
“They run in and give me kisses, before they couldn’t.
“When I get home from work, they run to the door, saying daddy this and daddy that.”
Wife of six years Rebecca said having the triplets in April 2008 had come as a surprise.
“Two was the limit,” Mrs King said.
“We had planned for two, one at a time.”
She said that plan changed after she went for her first scan and was told she was carrying triplets.
Mr King said it had taken his wife a day to tell him the news.
“I was lying on the lounge and felt like I was falling through,” he said.
Their initial surprise behind them, Mrs King said she had experienced a largely uneventful labour, until two weeks before the birth in her 32nd week when she spent the next two weeks on bed rest.
The babies spent their first six weeks in hospital, three in the Wesley Hospital in Brisbane, before they were transferred to St Andrew’s in Ipswich to be closer to home.
Mr King said they had got through the busy early days of parenthood with the help of a supportive family.
“The kids are quite fun and interacting a lot more now,” he said.
“They still have their two-year-old moments but it’s heaps easier now than when they were nursing.”
He said each also had their own personality, with Ryan “Mr Sensitive”, Sophie the boss and Matthew “just cheeky and funny”.
“There are a lot more laughs in the house now,” Mr King said.
