TIME is running out to book seats for Ipswich Musical Theatre Company’s latest production, The Producers.
Artistic director Brenda Ryan says the show is “great entertainment”.
“You really feel you have met these characters before,” she said.
“The Mel Brooks humour in the dialogue and the words of the songs are very funny.”
Director/choreographer Ruth Gabriel said the show was “character driven”.
“We follow the adventures of the main people as their lives unfold during the evening,” she said.
“The music is amazing – complex, but singable and very memorable.
“The dialogue pokes fun, gently, at the style of older musicals from the 1940s and 50s, and the characters are stylised examples of previous generations of musical comedy and movie stars.”
The movie classic that became a Broadway sensation tells the story of Max Bialystock, a down-on-his-luck Broadway producer, and Leo Bloom, a nerdy young accountant, who together concoct a scheme to raise millions of dollars by deliberately staging a show that will flop. But something goes wrong and the show is a gigantic hit.
The Producers will be performed at the Ipswich Civic Centre on September 11 and 18 from 7.30pm and on September 12 at 2pm.
Call 3810 6100 to book.
