FAMILIES across Ipswich have been invited to try their skills in a medieval tournament or take a camel ride at St Mary’s Primary School fete this weekend.

Plenty of stalls and prizes should amuse even the most-seasoned fete-goer.

The monster raffle boasts a fine selection of prizes including the new Apple iPad, an Apple iPod touch, a 32-inch plasma television, a Nintendo DSI bundle and a bar fridge stocked with wine.

St Mary’s Primary Parents and Friends president Mary McCormick said the whole community was welcome to attend.

“The medieval tournament is new this year, and the camel rides are tipped to be extremely popular,” Mrs McCormick said.

“We have lots of stalls including a cent auction, chocolate and ham wheel, seedlings, home-made sweets and cakes, fairy floss and face painting, lucky dips and sample bags, pre-loved books, puzzles, CDs and DVDs and more.”

Mrs McCormick said families could save on ride costs by purchasing a ride-all-day arm band costing $25 each or $22 each for families of three or more. Individual ride tickets will also be available.

Attractions include the Cha Cha, Whirlwind, Laser Skirmish, Super Slide, Cup and Saucer and Jumping Castle.

The fete will be held on Sunday, August 29 from 10am until 3pm at Timothy Moloney Oval, opposite St Mary’s Church on Elizabeth Street. Entry is free. For more details phone 0408 188 135.
