Josh Ubergang advises shy men how to come out of their shell and Sherrie Harrison is mesmerised by him.
IN HIGH school Joshua Ubergang was gangly, nervous and never held hands with a cute girl near the lockers.
In fact, he barely talked to the opposite sex.
How his world has changed.
Now this 204cm (six foot nine inches) giant is a confidence guru who is paid to help people around the world overcome their shyness and become better communicators.
He has written a book titled Communication Secrets of Powerful People and has been paid to fly to Africa to personally show a client how to become more confident at the workplace and in bars.
“When I was younger I would literally not go out anywhere. I would never go to parties,” Mr Ubergang said.
“I had a poor relationship with my family as well because I could not communicate with anyone.
“I became sick of the way I was living and so I started reading a few books, which made me think about how I could change my life.”
Mr Ubergang attended Ipswich State High and plays centre for the Ipswich Force basketball team.
He has created an expansive website, www.towerofpower.com.au, which sells his books and offers free communication articles.
“I’m not just a dating expert. It’s only a part of what I do,” Mr Ubergang said.
“I recently worked with a guy who was high up in the real estate business and often going to events where everyone networked except him.
“I showed him techniques to introduce himself to strangers and make a good first impression and it’s really changed his life.”
Dating tips
When approaching a woman do not focus on your opening line. Simply say hi. Ask how her night has been and take it from there.
Ask the lady for an opinion, instead of saying something predictable. Approach a girl and say, “I was just talking with my friend and he is certain women lie more than men. What do you think?”
Do not be afraid to say something that might upset a woman.
