TURNING a sweet treat into big dollars, an Easter raffle at Springfield is set to help young people living with cancer.

Gala Fine Chocolates and Gifts owner Debbi Engler said typically the business held an annual event to raffle off a giant 60-kilogram egg. This year with the egg unfortunately broken days before the event, she said she had to get creative.

On Saturday, for a gold coin donation to CanTeen, people could receive a piece of the smashed egg and go into a draw to win a giant Easter bunny.

A raffle of Easter merchandise has also been held in store at the Orion Springfield business.

Ms Engler said she was hoping to raise “at least $2000” for the cause.

“It is something I can do to give back to the community,” Ms Engler said.

CanTeen member Dannielle Gannaway became involved with the organisation after losing her brother to cancer.

She said it was nice to see so many people giving to the cause.
