Big seas batter nervous Jessica

“We’ve had lots of good progress in the last few days but not towards Australia,” the Buderim teenager, pictured, joked on her blog yesterday.

“We’ve been headed north again to avoid the worst of a passing front.

“It’s safely past now but did give us and is still giving us some pretty big seas with some of the bigger ones reaching maybe seven metres.

“Mostly Ella’s Pink Lady takes it all in her stride as always but the occasional breaking wave is a little hard on my nerves.

Jessica said the closer to Australia she gets, the more she’s missing everyone.

“I’m already getting excited but just a tad nervous too,” she said.

“Just 1400 nautical miles until we’re under Australia.

“All of these thousands of miles seem to passing so quickly now. Did I mention how much I’m looking forward to going for a walk?”

Jessica is expected to pass Cape Leeuwin in the next fortnight and then enter the final month of her solo circumnavigation.
