REGIONAL women can celebrate stronger money relationships than their Brisbane counterparts, according to findings from Westpac Bank’s Women and Money Survey.

Creditors are unlikely to recoup the millions of dollars owed to them by a failed Maryborough caravan company.

REGIONAL Queensland women can celebrate stronger money relationships than their Brisbane counterparts, according to findings from Westpac Bank’s Women and Money Survey.

The survey reports 73 per cent of couples surveyed in regional Queensland consulted with their partners about spending shared money, compared with 71 per cent in Brisbane.

Regional couples are more likely to have a joint savings account and less likely to keep some money separately than urban couples.

They are also slightly more likely to argue about money than their urban counterparts, at 52 per cent compared to 50 per cent in Brisbane.

Women appear to be the driving force behind savings habits, with 47 per cent of those surveyed nationally having sole responsibility for saving money, compared to just 24 per cent of men.

The most popular reasons for women to save include ‘a holiday or travel’, ‘a home’ or ‘a rainy day’. Men said their top savings goals were most commonly ‘a car’, ‘a holiday’, ‘a rainy day’ or ‘an investment’.
