A TRUCK driver’s journey was disrupted on Monday when the B-double he was driving overbalanced, landing on its side, at Blackstone.

Police said the man was driving on Redbank Plains Road about 1.10pm when the truck toppled over onto its left side.

The driver had been trying to negotiate a right-hand turn on a service road on the way to Swanbank power station.

The truck’s cab landed on the guard rail but the driver was not injured. Police at the scene said the truck’s load of coal spilled across the road.

Queensland Fire and Rescue Service senior firefighter Graham Harris said a crew went from Bundamba station to assess the situation.

“A bit of fuel leaked out of the truck, but police and an environmental officer from Ipswich City Council were there and they said it would take at least an hour to clear the truck away so we weren’t needed,” Mr Harris said.

Police crash investigators are looking into whether speed or the load shifting was the reason the truck tipped over.
