McDonald's is offering ten kids the chance to lead out the Socceroos at the start of the World Cup. Ipswich kids Tyler Brown 8, Bailey Brown 9, Mitchell Husband 10, Kaleb Chant 6, and Caleb Connors 6, are excited at the opportunity to win.
ATTENTION soccer-mad Ipswich juniors – fancy leading out Socceroos stars like Tim Cahill and Harry Kewell into a packed stadium in a World Cup match in South Africa?
Well here’s your chance.
McDonald’s Australia has kicked off its nationwide Player Escort Competition which will provide 10 lucky six to 10-year-olds with the opportunity to escort the Aussies out in the 2010 FIFA World Cup. Ipswich Knights junior Tyler Brown, 8, said it was a competition he would love to win.
“You would be the first out on to the field. That would be awesome,” he said.
Brassall resident Sharon Connors, whose six-year-old son Caleb Connors is another soccer fanatic, said she was keen to have her kids enter the competition.
“I think it would be one of those opportunities you would never forget, walking out with the Socceroos, and it would be great to go to South Africa as a family,” she said.
The McDonald’s Player Escort Competition challenges Ipswich kids to prove they are good sports by visiting www.mcdonalds.com.au/playerescort and creating a comic-strip story about the ‘spirit of sportsmanship’.
Yamanto McDonald’s licensee David Kimmorley said not only was the prize great, but also stressed the importance of good sportsmanship.
“Whatever sport you’re into, learning to be a ‘good sport’– teamwork, winning and losing with good grace, communication, social interaction – not only make playing more enjoyable, but experts also believe these are essential life-skills which can greatly benefit a child’s personal growth and wellbeing,” he said.
