THE Rail Union has attacked Queensland Treasurer Andrew Fraser for his “two-faced attitude” towards opponents of the State Government’s privatisation plans.
Rail Tram and Bus Union secretary Owen Doogan said the Treasurer was having difficulty recognising that many diverse groups in Queensland saw major flaws in his privatisation plans.
“The Treasurer has previously met with Queensland Resources Council representatives on a number of occasions. It is highly hypocritical for him to now criticise other groups for talking with each other,” Mr Doogan said.
“The Treasurer would prefer all privatisation opponents disappeared so he could sell off what he wanted. Unfortunately, if all the opponents of privatisation vanished then Queensland would be a ghost town.”
He promised the Rail Union’s campaign against privatisation of public assets would continue.
“It is time for the government to listen to the people of Queensland – they do not want their public assets sold,” he said.
