A TRUCK driver was treated for a head injury after his rig overturned on a sharp corner at Swanbank on Tuesday.

The recycled-water truck was travelling down Swanbank Road near the power station and had attempted a right turn into Memorial Drive when it tipped on to its left side, about 1.15pm.

The truck came to rest on Memorial Drive but did not block the main flow of heavy vehicles along Swanbank Road.

The 40-year-old driver, who was the only person in the cab at the time, was assisted from the vehicle before emergency services arrived.

He sustained a mild head injury – described as a bump on the head by emergency services staff at the scene – and was taken to Ipswich Hospital for treatment.

Firefighters arrived at the scene to clean up a minor diesel and hydraulic fluid leak.

One of the truck’s water compartments burst in the rollover and had to be drained before the truck could be righted.

Police said it took about 30 minutes to tip the water tanker back on to its wheels.

The truck was towed away about 4pm and the scene was cleared shortly after.

Police were investigating the cause of the accident, but said there was no indication that the driver was at fault.
