POLICE said a collection of stolen property seized this week could hold the key to a number of unsolved break-ins.
Watches, outdated Australian $1 notes, pennies, necklaces, a camera and a collection of foreign currency were discovered following a raid on a Riverview home on Wednesday afternoon.
The house was raided in response to a home invasion at Silkstone a week earlier where two men allegedly made threats against the occupants of a home on Dorothy Street while armed with a handgun.
Police have placed a high priority on finding out who owns the seized property.
A portable DVD player, digital video camera and bluetooth phone receiver have already been linked to a several break-ins at Camira and Springfield.
Ipswich Tactical Crime Squad Constable Gary Hiles said a coin collection of money from Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Thailand, Canada, the US and United Arab Emirates was part of Wednesday’s find.
“There’s also a commemorative medal from the 1989 Ashes series,” Const Hiles said.
“We’re hoping someone will recognise this property and come forward.”
A Tag Heuer and two Rip Curl watches were also located.
Eric James Goebel, 24, from Bundamba was arrested and charged with numerous offences following Wednesday’s raid.
Goebel did not appear in person at Ipswich Magistrates Court yesterday.
He is charged with entering a dwelling while armed and in company, obstructing police and disqualified driving.
Defence lawyer Shay Duce did not make a bail application and Goebel was remanded in custody to reappear on March 31.
