Teen drowns in flooding tragedy

A 14-year-old boy drowned when the car he was travelling in was swept off a Black Duck Creek crossing on Saturday night.

WET weather caused chaos for motorists on Sunday, with emergency crews called to several accidents across the region.

The day followed the tragic death of 14-year-old Dalton Moule, who died after the car he was travelling in was swept into floodwaters on Saturday night.

Police received a triple-0 call about 8.20pm saying a car had been washed away while trying to cross the flooded Black Duck Creek Road at Junction View.

Police and emergency services searched the area and Dalton's body was found downstream about 11.45pm.

Meanwhile, police and ambulance crews attended a two-vehicle crash on the Brisbane Valley Highway about 9.45am Sunday, which left a ute over-turned and down an embankment.

The vehicle crashed off the road and landed 20 metres down an embankment but all drivers and passengers walked away unharmed.

Police also received numerous triple-0 calls about a vehicle stuck down a gully at the intersection of Fotheringham Road and the Warrego Highway at Muirlea about 6am yesterday.

When officers arrived they found the vehicle empty and locked.

Another vehicle was abandoned upside-down at the intersection of Pine Mountain and Sherlocks roads at Pine Mountain.

Boonah police were called to direct traffic around a mudslide on the Cunningham Highway at Cunninghams Gap about 3.45am, with one lane blocked.

A vehicle slid off the road near the mudslide about 12.05pm, landing in a ditch and had to be towed.

No injuries were reported.

Police had to block off Toongarra Road in Leichhardt in the afternoon after a car struck a power pole about 12.25pm leaving 89 homes and businesses without electricity.

Emergency crews were concerned the pole would topple and bring down powerlines and Energex crews worked on the site until late afternoon.

The 40-year-old female driver and her eight-year-old son were taken to Ipswich Hospital in a stable condition with minor injuries.
