RATHER than indulging in an extravagant three-course meal after winning more than $800,000, a Lowood family celebrated with pizza.
The family, who want to remain anonymous, contacted Golden Casket after discovering they won the division one prize and two division four prizes.
The winner, a man aged in his 40s, said he randomly chose the numbers for his regular 12 game ticket in Saturday night’s Gold Lotto draw.
“I just crossed out a heap of numbers without really thinking about it,” he said.
The man, bewildered by his $800,088.30 win, decided to celebrate the occasion with pizza for his family.
“We thought we’d do something a bit different to celebrate when we found out that we’d won so we had a pizza dinner,” he said.
“It’s not something that we usually do.”
The man bought his winning ticket, which cost $7.25, from newsXpress Lowood.
NewsXpress owners Nia and Aaron Kugel said they were ecstatic they sold the winning ticket to a local resident.
“We are feeling very lucky and I hope the winner is too,” Mrs Kugel said.
“It’s really exciting for everyone.”
She said as soon as they discovered they sold the winning ticket they were quick to let everyone know.
“We put signs out everywhere,” she said.
“People have been walking in excited saying ‘Is it me? Is it my lucky day?’.”
