IPSWICH Musketeers proved they could overcome the loss of their big names with a couple of upset wins at the weekend.
The Musketeers beat Beenleigh 5-3 at Tivoli on Friday and Rapids 14-10 at Bray Park yesterday in the weekend's Brisbane Major League baseball games.
After downing Beenleigh the Musketeers' hopes of consecutive wins looked slim when pitcher Dean Jones called in sick, while Andrew Campbell, Gareth Jones and Michael Bozhoff were also absent.
“These are the games I remember, winning without key personnel, especially on the road,” Musketeers coach Dave Suthers said.
Craig Handy opened the pitching yesterday while Robert Reeves closed out the game, pitching the final three innings for just one run.
“He impresses me every time he takes the park,” Suthers said of Reeves.
