YES, it is love.

Hearts melted across the country last night as Sunshine Coast contestant Rebecca Davis heard those three beautiful words for the first time from her new beau, farmer Gavin Pahlke, on national television.

Now that their The Farmer Wants a Wife secret is out, the commercial banking assistant manager revealed that the couple exchanged phone numbers way back on day two of the television series.

From their morning cups of tea to a united Christian belief, Rebecca said theirs was an instant connection.

And it is still going strong five months after filming. “I always knew he was coming to knock on my door,” Rebecca said of “judgement day”, when the show's farmers reveal their chosen women.

“But when he said, 'I love you' on the final show, I was in a state of shock,” she said.

Sceptics should note rose-coloured glasses were nowhere to be found as the Sippy Downs mum revealed it is Gavin's son and fellow The Farmer Wants A Wife contestant Steven who is the better instructor to life on the land.

“He (Steven) is a man of few words but they are to the point, Gavin uses a few more words than perhaps he needs too,” she said.

Life on a tractor may not be too far away for Rebecca and her son, 16-year-old Freedom.

She said she and Gavin have discussed marriage and a move to the farm.

Rebecca's dream of six children has also been fulfilled.

Gavin has five children including 17-year-old non-identical triplets.

“Yes, it is love. I haven't felt anything like this since I was 21,” Rebecca said with a giggle.

The couple is currently separated by distance. Gavin's sugar cane farm, 33km north of the Gold Coast, is well into its hectic harvesting schedule. Last night though both Rebecca and Gavin sat by the telephone as they watched the credits of the final episode that meant they could tell the world.

“I will always be thankful to the show and to Gavin for allowing me to have this experience.” she said.
