Qld's Idol contestants get ready

JUST like the songs says 'sisters are doing it for themselves,' so too are these two young Queensland Australian Idol hopefuls.

Kate Cook from Lowood and Nat Pyziakos from the Sunshine Coast are leading the local contingent in this years' top 100.

A heartfelt performance of a song dedicated to her dead mother helped Kate make it across the line in during the 2009 audition process.

“When I first turned up to audition I thought I had no chance, there were that many people about,” Ms Cook said.

“Being Mother's Day weekend when I went up for auditions, I thought it was appropriate."

But for Nat, it's her second time around the Idol merry-co-round after she pulled out of last year's competition due to homesickness.

"The feedback was great again this year," Nat said.

"They told me not to bail out this time, which was good, it was good for me to hear."

Idol has already hit our TV screens and we can expect to see a lot more of these two Queenslanders over the next few weeks.
