TOUTED as a survival manual for the modern urban goddess, Queensland theatre's answer to Sex and the City is set to play in Brisbane.
Bundamba-bred actress Stacey Muller (pictured far left) will star as Sarah, a young woman who finds out what her boyfriend really has on his mind, in the outrageous new comedy Angry Young Women in Low-Rise Jeans With High-Class Issues.
The play is told in five parts and is all about young women and the issues they confront.
“Sarah is basically an 18-year-old who is very naive to the world of men,” Muller said.
“She has just started to date a guy and gets her advice from her boisterous cousin Rebecca.
“She is very sheltered to the way men behave.”
The former Ipswich Girls' Grammar student said the comedy was in the same vein as the popular Sarah Jessica Parker series.
“It is very Sex and the City-esque,” Muller said.
“It explores similar themes.
“Women will definitely be able to relate to it.”
She said it was interesting to relive her teenage years.
“It is a challenge to go back to being someone who hasn't had any relationship experience or been in a serious relationship,” Muller said.
Muller, who honed her skills in high school musicals studied drama and education through the Queensland University of Technology.
She said the acting bug bit early.
“Growing up I always wanted to be an actor,” she said.
“The reality hits later that it is a hard profession to be involved in.
“You have to have a thick skin.
“I try to make a career of that as well as teach, which is my other profession.”
The Queensland premiere season of Angry Young Women will play at the Visy Theatre at the Brisbane Powerhouse from July 15 to 25.
