A TEENAGER who previously told Ipswich Magistrates Court she wanted to be a vampire has pleaded guilty to a violent, knife-wielding rampage.
The Ipswich District Court heard Kayler Rose Maree Scott, 19, carved the word “kill” into a wall during an attack in which she also held a smashed bottle to her aunt's neck.
In September last year Scott pleaded guilty to an animal cruelty charge in the Ipswich Magistrates Court after she stabbed the family dog with a piece of glass, stating she did it because she wanted to be a vampire.
The court heard Scott erupted after an argument with her aunt in a shopping centre. The row turned violent when they returned home.
Crown prosecutor John Copley said Scott smashed a bottle and grabbed the woman by her arm.
“She pulled her close and put the glass against her throat,” Mr Copley said.
Scott then told the woman she was going to slice her throat.
The teen eventually let her aunt go but picked up a large black-handled knife and started ransacking the house.
“The accused was stabbing at a stereo set on a TV unit and also stabbed a wedding photo on the wall,” Mr Copley said.
“The word 'kill' was scratched into the walls.”
By the time police arrived Scott had armed herself with another large knife but was subdued.
Scott had moved to her aunt's house after another violent outburst at her mother's Eastern Heights home in which she smashed 15 windows and threatened her mother with a hammer.
Defence barrister Anna Cappellano said the defendant had not been seeing her doctor or taking her medication at the time of the offence.
“Ms Scott does now accept that her behaviour was unacceptable,” Ms Cappellano said.
Scott pleaded guilty to two charges of wilful damage, one of common assault and one of going armed in public to cause fear.
Judge Judy Richards told Scott her behaviour had been totally out of control but a recent jail term had done her good.
“Since you have been released from custody you have been able to remain calmer which is a good thing,” she said.
“It seems to me it would be pointless to put you back into custody.”
Scott was sentenced to three years' probation.
