THE first 300 children through the gates at the Boonah Show this Saturday can take part in the Yellow Brick Road trip, which takes them around all the sections of the show, collecting giveaways and filling their showbags with goodies from the participating stalls.

A free trackless train will run continuously throughout the day to take people to all the different parts of the show.

Boonah Show Society secretary Beth Hern said combined with the regular features of a good old fashioned country show, the region's premium event would offer a huge variety for visitors.

“Our show will feature the very best Boonah has to offer,” Mrs Hern said.

“The FMX Kaos Stunt Bike Show, which finishes with the famous Demolition Derby, is set to thrill visitors who can expect lots of other fun activities to suit all everyone.

“As well as loads of entertainment to cater to people of all ages, a great sideshow alley with lots of rides and fun and lots of tasty show food, you will simply love the day out and about in our friendly country town.”

Celebrating Queensland's 150th birthday is the theme for Boonah's 109th annual show.

To mark this occasion there will be special displays around the grounds of memorabilia, vintage vehicles and working displays of old machinery.

“Come early so you have plenty of time to visit all the tremendous pavilion displays,” Mrs Hern said.

“Visit the free Ashton's Circus, which has shows at 10am, midday, 2pm and 4pm.

“A special twilight parade featuring yesterday, today and tomorrow will begin the night show program.”

A huge variety of trade displays are also set to rock the region.

Prize-winning cattle, the stock horse pageant and cavalcade of transport as part of the grand parade are among other attractions on offer.

“Visit all the animals, the poultry and birds and our new feature, the miniature goats,” Mrs Hern said.

“Watch the great horse events in the main arena, see the chainsaw races, the shearing shed and farmyard animals, the judging of the ute muster and much more.

“By popular demand, the Fine Food and Wine Fair will once again be highlighting lots of local foods to sample and buy, as well as a Wine Show and home brew presentation.

“Local bands and entertainers are also performing on the stage in front of the grandstand.

“Other new features to watch out for are the celebrity chef and celebrity milking competitions, and the special junior farmers display in the Agriculture Pavilion put together by ex Junior Farmers of the 1950s era.
