AFTER last week's plea for more toys, the Lockyer Valley Ulysses Club has been inundated with donations from the people of Ipswich.
President Paul Brasher said the article in last week's QT obviously touched a nerve with residents and since then he had received non-stop phone calls with offers of gifts and donations.
This Sunday the club will attract about 800 motorbike riders in its annual toy run from Brassall Shopping Centre to the Ipswich Turf Club at Bundamba.
While the toy run appeal was slow to get started, Mr Brasher said it always warmed up towards the day.
"We usually have truckloads by the end," Mr Brasher said.
The toy run leaves from Brassall Shopping Centre at 10.30am. Registration is from 8.30am.
The cost of the run is still free, but a $15 ride pack is optional. It involves a cooked breakfast, tea or coffee, bottle of water and patch or badge.
Proceeds from the toy run go to the Salvation Army and the Arthritis Research Task Force.
Unwrapped gifts, toys and non-perishable food can be donated at the Winston Glades Shopping Centre, Brassall Shopping Centre and Downs Seafood at North Ipswich until Sunday morning.
To make a larger donation phone Mr Brasher on 0428 127 523
