Woman accused of spitting blood on police officer

A CAMIRA woman will appear before Ipswich Magistrates Court today charged with assaulting two police officers.

The woman was involved in a disturbance at the Redbank Plaza Shopping Centre about 6.30pm Wednesday.

Police took her back to Camira, however she allegedly punched an officer in the shoulder.

The woman was subsequently arrested and taken to the Ipswich watchhouse, where it will be alleged she spat blood on the same male officer.

It will also be alleged the woman smeared blood onto a female watchhouse officer's arms.

The 26-year-old accused has been charged with serious assault polices, serious assault of a public officer, assault police, obstruct, and wilful damage of police property.

The 44-year-old male police officer and the 60-year-old watchhouse officer did not require medical treatment.
