We're keen to see what you want to read more about through out new topics function.

SO what are the hot topics in your world?

We're keen to get a better idea of the stories and issues you want covered on this website.

So we are giving you the opportunity to tell us.

We've set up the ability to follow topics that interest you.

You might be interested in environment stories, for example, or stories about coal seam gas.

You may want to see the latest court or police stories across the APN news network.

You may want to follow stories about your local council.

Stories that are uploaded to this site are being tagged with topics covering subjects, locations and even people in the news.

For example, you can follow stories about the Sunshine Coast, Toowoomba, Ipswich, your local mayor or MP or your local area.

You can also follow more general topics like parenting or politics.

The hot topics widget now on the home page will show us some of the key areas of interest.

To help us, we would ask our readers to take some time to start following topics of particular interest to them.

To do this, you click on a relevant story and you will see topics in green above and below the story.

If you click on the topic you are interested in, it will take you to the topics page for that subject.

You then follow that topic.

You need to be logged in to the site to do this. If you don't have a login, just register - it is very easy and free. You only have to do it once.

When stories are posted on that topic, you will get an email to say there is a new story about that up on our site.

It's a great way to keep in touch with what's going on in the areas you are most interested in.

And no doubt our newsrooms will be watching closely to see what hot topics you want more stories about.

You will see below a whole list of topics which might help you get started - but feel free to choose your own from other stories.

Topics:  bundaberg, business, coal seam gas, coffs harbour, court, crime, development, editors picks, education, flood 2013, flooding, fraser coast, gladstone, grafton, health, ipswich, mackay, maryborough, mining, parenting, police, politics, queensland, rockhampton, sunshine coast, toowoomba, touring, tweed, weather
