United keeps talented Djite under contract until 2015

ADELAIDE United has continued to lock up its hottest talent, re-signing forward Bruce Djite until the end of the 2014/15 season.

The 25-year-old has scored 22 games in his 75 A-League appearances, which started with the Reds back in 2006.

He left at the end of the 2007/08 season to play in Turkey, before a stint in China and one season at the now defunct Gold Coast United.

Djite, who was born in Washington DC, has become a cult figure in Adelaide, and, given the team's success this season said the decision to re-sign had been easy.

"Having good players attracts good players as well. I think we can achieve some special things in the next few years and I think we're definitely on the right track," Djite said.

"If I'm going to stay in the A-League I think this the club to be at."

Adelaide coach John Kosmina said Djite had been an "unsung hero" at the club.

"He's got good leadership skills and I still think his best football is in front of him," Kosmina said.

Djite follows Jeronimo Neumann and Fabio Ferreira who both signed two-year contract extensions with the club in the last week.
