Tribunal decision places a permanent ban on car dealer

Rockhampton Morning Bulletin

A FORMER Sunshine Coast car dealer has been banned permanently from operating a business as a property agent or motor dealer.

Luke Donald Schwenke, who used to operate Sunny Coast Auto Auctions, was sentenced after admitting he had taken money from customers for stamp duty and transfer fees, but then deposited the money into his own business accounts instead of passing it onto Queensland Transport.

He also failed to lodge the necessary transfer documents for the sales.

Investigations revealed Schwenke had failed to lodge transfer documents on 33 occasions and failed on 20 occasions to pay collected monies to the intended recipients.

Schwenke had operated the business from 2007 to 2010.

He was also fined $5500 by the Queensland Civil and Administrative Tribunal.
