TOOWOOMBA'S brides are scrambling to keep up with the latest wedding trends set by the royal family.

Inquiries from brides-in-waiting have flowed since the April 29 royal wedding of Catherine Middleton and Prince William.

Everything from the style of Catherine's box-pleated skirt to her “going away” fur coat are being copied by local brides.

“We have a fur coat, similar to what Kate changed into, which is selling quickly,” Jacqueline Zhang of Fiorenza Bridal and After Five store said.

Jacqui Walker from A Touch of Romance Bridal and Formal said many brides had been making inquiries about the famous threads.

She said modern brides were hoping to emulate maid-of-honour Pippa Middleton's figure hugging ivory gown.

“We have a look-a-like Pippa gown in the pipeline now,” Ms Walker said.

Aleisha Culverwell of Spurling Bridal and Formalwear said the Ruthven St store carried a range of gowns inspired by party dresses seen at the royal wedding reception.
