Tiger to offer flights between Sunshine Coast and Melbourne

TIGER Airways will offer flights between the Sunshine Coast and Melbourne  from next month.

Flights between the cities are scheduled to start on March 27.

The company announced the move today as part of a range of  changes it is making to its schedule.

The airline announced four new domestic routes, between Melbourne and  the Sunshine Coast, Sydney and Cairns, Sydney and Alice Springs, and Melbourne and Alice Springs.

Special fares for Tiger's newest routes will be available on the Tiger Airways website for a limited time from tonight until midnight on  February 12, or until sold out, for  travel through April and May.

The introductory deal will see travellers flying between Melbourne and the Sunshine Coast from $49.95.

Tiger Airways Australia commercial director Carly Brear said today's news was exciting for consumers, local economies and the airline.

"We are confident that a lot of our current and future customers will be very happy that we are bringing Tiger's low fares to more of Australia,"  Ms Brear said.

"Tiger's new services to Cairns and Sunshine Coast further increase our presence in Queensland, which is an ever popular state for our customers to visit, and also provide additional connectivity for Queensland residents who have been extremely supportive of Tiger's services to date."
