Thunder video strikes over 15,000 hits
BDS LOGAN Thunder's new promotional video featuring local hip-hop artist Fortafy has received an impressive 15,000 hits on YouTube since it was leaked last week.
The song, 'Champion', was filmed during the pre-season and was set to be released this week before it was unofficially revealed through social media on Friday.
BDS Logan Thunder Captain Kristen Veal, who features in the video alongside Head Coach Jason Chainey and team mates Holly Smith, Emma Langford, Natalie Taylor and Mikhaela Donnelly, said she hoped the video would help promote the club in its fifth season in the WNBL.
"The song really reflects our never-say-die attitude and our willingness to fight when the odds are stacked against us,"
"We have gone through significant personnel changes this year in terms of players, coaches and management, and many people wrote us off before our season had even begun.
"But, we love a challenge and proving people wrong so we're happy to accept the underdog label.
"I think people will be able to relate to the song because everyone at some stage in their life, whether it is on the sporting field, at school, in the workplace or in life in general has felt like the underdog, which is why I think it has been so well received.
"This year the Thunder program is working hard to try and reach out to as many parts of the community as possible and we are looking to find innovate ways of promoting ourselves.
"We all had a blast filming it and I'm sure our invitation to the MTV awards is in the mail! I'd even go as far as to say it's the best sporting theme song since Tina Turner's 'Simply the Best'," she joked.
Also featuring five-time ARIA nominee 360, Vince Harder, Blanco and ATP, the video was shot by urban film and photography company Torn Parachute and footage was taken at an outdoor court at Edens Landing as well as at the Thunder's state-of-the-art home court, Logan Metro.
The inspirational and upbeat song had the players and crowd pumping on Friday night when Logan hosted WNBL heavyweights Adelaide Lightening after it was unveiled in front of a home crowd for the first time.
The song has already hit the airwaves and will be played at all Logan Thunder home games.
