Theo thinks Roar could dominate A-League after recent wins

BRISBANE Roar goalkeeper Michael Theo has been so impressed with his team's two wins in the past two rounds, he believes it is capable of going on another lengthy winning streak.

The Roar, now in sixth place, will take on the Melbourne Heart tomorrow at AAMI Park and is favoured to win, despite losing 4-1 to the same opponents in November.

Theo has won four A-League titles, two at Brisbane, in its golden run over the past two seasons.

And he has seen enough promising signs under new coach Mike Mulvey to talk up his side's chances in the second half of the season.

"We've started better in our past two games - we scored first each time and we weren't doing that before," he said.

"We had five 1-0 defeats.

"The confidence and belief is back again - we can be undefeated and go on a winning run now."

The champion 31-year-old could go up against his former understudy at the Roar, Andrew Redmayne tomorrow.

Despite giving away a penalty, Redmayne impressed Heart coach John Aloisi in his side's 2-1 win over the Jets on Tuesday in his A-League debut.

The 23-year-old did enough to earn his spot at the expense of Socceroo representative Clint Bolton.

"It was great to see Andrew get his opportunity the other day and from what I heard, he went well," Theo said.

But Redmayne will have to play above and beyond his debut showing if he is to match it with an in-form Theo and Roar team.

"I'm happy with my form - I'm up in the top three for saves this season," Theo said.

"I re-signed for four years at the start of this season, and at 31, that's still young for a keeper.

"I've had to make more saves this season than the past at the Roar, but either way I'm happy.

"I also don't mind at all when I don't have to make too many saves with our team on the attack."

And that attack is just starting to click, according to Theo.

"Our midfield engine room is in great form - you can't keep a guy like Thomas Broich down, and Mitch Nichols has been playing with good creativity in recent games," he said.

Theo said the Heart will be a difficult proposition because of the confidence that 4-1 win earlier in the season would have given them.

The Roar suffered no injuries in its bruising 2-1 victory over the Phoenix on Tuesday night.
