Teens assault and rob woman

THREE Leichhardt teenagers were among four arrested for the violent robbery of a young woman Sunday night.

Police allege a 17-year-old boy, 15-year-old girl and a 13-year-old boy - all from Ipswich - and a 13-year-old girl from Kallangur approached the 20-year-old victim in the underground pathway near Oxley train station about 6.40pm.

They demanded money from the woman before assaulting her and stealing her handbag.

The woman sustained facial injuries and grazes to her legs as a result of being dragged along the path while she tried to keep hold of her bag.

Police say they arrested the youths a short time later.

They were charged with one count each of robbery and assault occasioning bodily harm in company.

The 17-year-old is due to appear before the Richlands Magistrates Court this morning.

The other youths will be dealt with under the provisions of the Youth Justice Act.
