Stolen 4WD used in break-in attempt

A STOLEN four-wheel drive used in an attempt to break into an ATM in Toowoomba has been found dumped at Minden.

Police are investigating a break and enter at a shopping centre in Toowoomba early Tuesday morning.

Preliminary investigations suggest that a stolen 4WD was used to drive into the glass doors of a shopping centre on West St about 12.40am.

The vehicle was then driven in to an automatic teller machine, causing damage to the walls.

The offenders jimmied open the top half of the ATM and removed parts before fleeing the scene in the vehicle.

The 4WD was located abandoned at the intersection of the Warrego Highway and Piepers Road, Minden at around 4.20am.

Investigations are continuing.
