GOLF: Jordan Spieth will be going for a second straight Tour Championship win in Atlanta this weekend but said he would gladly swap that for success in next week's Ryder Cup.

Spieth won at East Lakes last year to wrap up the FedEx Cup but if he had the choice of success on the PGA Tour or against Europe, he would choose the latter.

"I don't have a Ryder Cup (win),” he said.

"You want what you don't have. I've watched the other side of that (Ryder Cup defeat in 2014) and it hurt. It was tough in that closing ceremony.

"When we boarded the plane back home, it was an empty feeling and we don't want that again.

"I'm pretty confident how we're going to go about our business. I think we've got a fantastic team this year.”

Spieth, who spent Sunday and Monday at Hazeltine National in Minnesota, site of next week's clash, said he would have no trouble focusing on this week's tournament.

There will be others in Atlanta trying to impress US captain, Davis Love III, however, with the final spot on the US Ryder Cup team to be handed out after the Tour Championship.
