Six people have died from US snowstorm

THE biggest snowstorm to hit the US east coast in more than a decade has left at least six people dead and homes across five states without power.

More than 40 million people between New Jersey and Maine were caught in the blizzard which dumped heavy snow, up to 1m deep, on Saturday.

Five adults and one child were killed in related accidents.

New York airports including JFK were closed for almost 12 hours and delays continued on Sunday.
