Sisters cut up the old images
COD OIL, green sludgy health drinks and early-morning yoga: welcome to life as a modern day rock 'n' roll superstar.
The American band Scissor Sisters recently toured Australia with local exercise physiologist Dave Liow in tow.
Mr Liow, a director of Kaizen Exercise Physiologists in Maroochydore, said outrageous all-night parties and booze benders were not on the band's agenda.
"They're very responsible," he said.
"Some of the newer groups go haywire, but you just can't do it.
"Being on tour is like being an athlete. They work incredibly hard."
Kaizen Exercise Physiologists co-director Angela Jenkins said "kaizen" means the philosophy of continual movement with a focus on exercise and lifestyle coaching.
"The approach Dave took with the Scissor Sisters was really holistic: nutrition, supplements, best sleep and best schedule," Ms Jenkins said.
"Our philosophy is to do all the small things consistently."
Mr Liow said the Scissor Sisters had been touring for 11 years and it was their experience in the industry that kept them so focused.
"They would get up at 5am, exercise, eat and at lunchtime interviews would start," he said.
"Every day was a new city.
"It's absolutely vital for them to be at their best.
"The amount of time and money put in production means they have to man up."
Mr Liow's inside account revealed a happy, G-rated side of what otherwise is considered to be a drug-ridden, party scene.
