Singer's off to Boston
MULTI award-winning singer and choir director Tom Keenan will travel to the United States early next month to upgrade his management skills.
Ipswich Junior Eisteddfod and the Ipswich Orpheus Chorale are expected to benefit from Mr Keenan's new-found knowledge.
"I am going to Boston to attend the annual Academy of Management Conference from August 3 to 7," he said.
"The conference is held in a different American city each year and is one of the largest and most prestigious management conferences in the world, with over 10,000 delegates attending.
"I have had a paper accepted focusing on the applicability of aesthetic knowledge to organisational decision-making processes, and I will be presenting this paper in a session on August 7."
It will be Mr Keenan's first visit to the US.
"I will be spending a few days in New York for some general tourist activities before I return home," he said.
"The trip is associated with my PhD studies.
"I am completing my PhD in Management at QUT and I intend to use the skills I develop as part of the PhD process to enhance my management activities in the Ipswich area.
"This trip will be extremely beneficial.
"I will have the opportunity to interact with the top management scholars in the world."
