700m drive home and drink-driver blew it

A MAN has told a court he thought he'd be right to drive despite registering more than four times the legal limit when pulled over.

Matthew Lucas Jackwitz, 29, had been drinking with his brothers at a pub only 700m away from his Boonah home and thought he'd be under the limit.

When he pulled into his driveway police breath-tested him and he blew 0.203.

Ipswich Magistrates Court heard the offence happened on November 16 at 10.35pm, and Jackwitz drove because he was worried his car would be damaged if he left it at the pub.

Jackwitz pleaded guilty to driving under the influence of liquor, was fined $900 and disqualified from driving for 10 months.
