WORLD No. 3 Serena Williams took just 50 minutes to wrap up her first Brisbane International, overpowering Russia's Anastasia Pavluychenkova 6-2 6-1 on Saturday night.

Williams, who has won 16 matches straight and 35 from her last 36 after a shock exit in the first round of the French Open, said she was in career-best form.

"I don't know if I was in 'the' zone today (but) I was definitely heading in that direction," she said.

India's Sania Mirza and American Bethanie Mattek-Sands beat Anna-Lena Groenefeld of Germany and Czech Kveta Peschke 4-6, 6-4, 10-7 in the doubles final.
