SA Liberal Party leader Isobel Redmond resigns

THE Leader of the South Australia Liberal Party Isobel Redmond resigned on Thursday after months of speculation about her position.

South Australian media reported the state Opposition leader resigned, sparking furious speculation former Foreign Minister Alexander Downer could stand for the job.

But Mr Downer hosed down such speculation in Canberra on Thursday, saying he did not plan to enter state politics.
