BOONAH Fire Brigade and rural fire brigade crews were called in for some heavy lifting at Milbong on Saturday when the RSPCA attempted a horse rescue.

The horse had to be winched out of a gully on the Milbong property after it had been stuck in the water for about hour at 3.50pm.

Boonah Station officer-in-charge David Perrem said the rescue was easier than expected with a rural fire brigade member using a hoist on his ute to free the horse.

"We used two of our wide hoses as a sling to lift the horse out," Mr Perrem said.

"It was a good result. We let the horse walk around a bit and took it up in the yards. It was fine. It wasn't too distressed.
