UPDATE 12.40PM: A hang glider is fine after coming down hard near Kings Beach and startling onlookers.

Initial reports indicated the hang glider crashed about 12.15pm.

They were said to have come down near the boat ramp, close to Margaret St.

A Department of Community Safety spokeswoman said Queensland Ambulance Service attended, but the hang glider did not need treatment.

"Someone reported that he crashed, but he only came down a bit hard," the spokeswoman said.

"He wasn't injured."
