GLADSTONE members of the Real Estate Institute of Queensland gathered today for breakfast and a discussion with visiting executive members.

CEO Anton Kardash highlighted the current issues facing the industry including legislative changes.

The state government's move to split PAMDA (an act that includes property agents and motor dealers) is a move supported by the REIQ.

But the national government's attempt at an Australian-wide agent licensing scheme is causing more harm than good according to the country's real estate institutes who are fighting it.

"We support the principle, however ... to put it bluntly, it is dumbing down the industry," Mr Kardash said.
