Radio presenter offers award to Heritage
THE Yarraman Heritage House has a new addition to its display.
On Sunday, local radio music presenter Ralph Cooper donated one of his most esteemed awards to the Heritage House - the Ernie Oldfield Award.
Mr Cooper, who operates a country music program from Yarraman's community radio station, received the award the past three years.
The Yarraman radio personality has been in the industry for about 20 years, hosting various radio programs in Australia and New Zealand.
He said the award was one of his greatest achievements since he entered the music industry.
"I'm quite honoured to receive the awards for the work that I put into the music," he said.
"I love to support country music and Ernie Oldfield.
"It was awarded to me for great creativity and excellent presentation."
The Ernie Oldfield Award is given out annually from Austria to those who have supported country music and the music of Ernie Oldfield.
The Yarraman radio presenter received the award in 2010, 2011 and 2012.
"It is great to get that recognition and appreciation from the other side of the world for what we do here in Yarraman," Mr Cooper said.
Mr Cooper said the awards looked good in both Yarraman Heritage House and the radio studio.
"They look a lot better than stacked in the drawer in my home," he said.
To hear Mr Cooper tune into 4WHO Wild Horse FM.
