QPR's win over Chelsea could be turning point for team

QPR's first win over rival Chelsea at Stamford Bridge since March 1979 has convinced manager Harry Redknapp his side can escape relegation.

Shaun Wright-Phillips' late strike earned the unlikely success and the 1-0 victory and although Rangers are still rooted to the bottom, the former Tottenham boss has plenty of hope.

"We had a good meeting after the Liverpool match (3-0 defeat) and I convinced the players we can stay up," Redknapp told BBC Sport.

"Everybody else thought I was mad, but I do genuinely believe it. We're not doomed, we can turn it around."

It was a good night for Merseyside clubs with Liverpool and Everton both winning.

Luis Suarez scored twice and youngster Raheem Sterling also found the net in a 3-0 win over Sunderland for Brendan Rodgers' men, while Everton moved up to fifth with a 2-1 come-from-behind win at Newcastle.

Leighton Baines equalised Papiss Cisse's opener with a stunning free-kick before substitute Victor Anichebe hit the winner 90 seconds after coming off the bench.
