Presenting the Lexus LFA - in chrome

TODAY I present to you the 2012 Lexus LFA.

The LFA is Lexus's first supercar, and it has exceeded many expectations. Unlike most modern supercars which are rear-engined, the Lexus LFA is equipped with a front-mounted, 4.8-litre, 40 valve 10-cylinder engine which can produce up to 552 horsepower at 8700rpm and 354 pound-feet of torque at 6800rpm.

This engine is also capable of revving from zero to 9000rpm in just 0.6 seconds!

This is too fast for a conventional tachometer, so Lexus had to design an LCD screen to display the speedometer, tachometer and all the engine and fuel applications.

Also, the unique triple exhaust system is tuned by the Yamaha Acoustic Department in Japan, to make the LFA sound very much like a Formula 1 race car.

Connected to this amazing engine is a six-speed automated manual transmission, with shifting paddles behind the leather and carbon fibre steering wheel, which sends all the power to the rear wheels.

Most exotic car companies are opting for double-clutch

transmissions, but the LFA has a single-clutch gearbox because the engineers thought that the double-clutch system wasn't authentic enough, because you couldn't feel the shifts.

This shows the amount of passion that the Japanese engineers put into their cars. Also, the Lexus LFA has a curb weight of 1480 kilograms, which is five kilograms lighter than the Ferrari 458 Italia, and 95 kilograms lighter than the Lamborghini Aventador.

This allows this work of art to launch from 0-100 kilometres per hour in just 3.6 seconds, and it will also keep accelerating until it reaches its top speed of 325 kilometres per hour (202 miles per hour).

To keep the car from lifting at this speed, Lexus have installed an automatic rear spoiler which self-raises at 80 kilometres per hour (50 miles per hour), and descends at 60 kilometres per hour (37 miles per hour), but it can also be raised with the flick of a switch.

There will only be 500 Lexus LFA's built (20 per month), and the 10 that are coming to Australia have already been sold for a base price of $750 000.

This particular model that I am featuring today is the world's first chrome wrapped Lexus LFA, and it was spotted at Lexus of Maroochydore on the Sunshine Coast. It is also number 304 of 500.
