Police crack whip on horse-teria

POLICE officers were called to rein in a hungry horse who didn't realise Foodworks at Craignish was closed at 4am on Tuesday.

A concerned neigh-bour saw the horse running wild near the Pialba-Burrum Heads Rd supermarket and contacted the Hervey Bay police station.

Police were worried the horse would "stirrup" trouble, so they went to put an end to the foal play.

They were assisted by a council compliance officer and managed to return the escaped animal to its paddock.

A police spokesman later reported that the situation was stable.
