Police car involved in head-on smash at Redbank

UPDATE 2PM: Investigations are underway into a traffic crash at Redbank this morning involving a marked police vehicle.

Around 9.45am the marked vehicle was travelling along Collingwood Drive when the collision occurred with another vehicle containing a woman and a young child.

A 32-year-old Redbank Plains woman was taken to hospital for assessment of what are believed minor injuries. The child was also taken to Ipswich General Hospital.

Both officers from the marked vehicle, a 26-year-old woman and a 32-year-old man, were also taken to hospital for what are believed minor injuries.

Investigations into the cause of the crash continue.

NOON: A female police officer is being treated for a minor wrist injury following a crash at Redbank this morning.

The crash involved a police car and a civilian vehicle at the corner of Smiths Rd and Collingwood Dve.

A woman in the other vehicle is pregnant, but has been given the all-clear by paramedics.

The scene of the head-on collision outside Redbank Plaza is now clear.

 

UPDATE 11AM: A woman and child are being assessed for injuries following a crash involving a police car at Redbank.

The two-car head-on collision was reported at the intersection of Collingwood Dve and Smiths Rd, outside the Redbank Plaza Shopping Centre, about 9.45am.

Both vehicles have sustained extensive front-end damage, with the police car fairing the worst of the two.

The intersection has been blocked while the damaged vehicles are recovered.

10AM: AN ambulance has been called to a crash involving a police car outside Redbank Plaza Shopping Centre.

The two-vehicle head-on crash is at the intersection of Collingwood Dve and Smiths Rd.

The extent of injuries is not known at this stage.
