AFTER starting the season with high hopes of contending for titles, Perth and Brisbane have been two of the season's biggest disappointments.

Ahead of their Australia Day clash at Perth's nib Stadium tomorrow, Glory captain Jacob Burns said he hoped the occasion would bring a turnaround in fortunes for his side.

Burns is one of 10 Perth players who have represented Australia at international level, and said hearing Advance Australia Fair played before the game was a moment players cherished.

"It's definitely a privilege when you are standing there wearing green and gold and singing the national anthem," he said.

Travis Dodd, Nick Ward, Scott Jamieson, Michael Thwaite, Brandon O'Neill, Danny Vukovic, Dean Heffernan, Evan Berger and Chris Harold are the nine other Perth Glory players to have played for Australia at various levels from U17s through to the Socceroos.

Jamieson played for the Socceroos in last year's East Asian Cup qualifiers, saying he needed to pick up his game for Perth to be considered by Australian selectors for future matches.

"I'm dying to get involved in the next few squads ... but if I'm not playing well for Perth, I won't be getting picked," he said.
